Octavo (24 x 17cm), pp.[xiv]; 146. With colour illustrations by Shepard to almost every page, and colour illustrated maps as endpapers. Bound for the publisher by Zaehnsdorf in full blue morocco gilt, with original printed card slipcase. Contents clean and fresh, binding well preserved with some gentle toning to the spine panel. Card box has a bookplate and owner label applied. This is an unnumbered copy, one of 30 from the limitation of 300 (as written), perhaps for internal use/private distribution. First published with black and white illustrations by Shepard in 1926, now appearing for the first time with his delightful drawings in colour. Artist Shepard died in 1976, and this edition represents the only deluxe, limited edition of the book signed by him. Item #75965
