[Literary and cinematic critique] Elstree Studios' report of the 'Miss Marple' murder-mystery novel They Do It With Mirrors, rejecting the novel as unsuitable for filming. 3pp., typed report on rectos only. Perforations down left edge from office binding. Very well preserved. Book: some dustiness, jacket with some chips and tears, toned. Very good. Agatha Christie's Miss Marple detective novel They Do It With Mirrors was published by Collins Crime Club on 17th November 1952. The book was received by Elstree's Reading Department on 28th November 1952, the report written on 6th December and delivered four days later (blue ink rubber-stamped date to front). Its verdict on the novel was lukewarm, stating: 'not strong at any point. Characters, setting, action are only faintly sketched in... no for us, I feel'. They Do It With Mirrors was not filmed until 1985, as 'Murder With Mirrors' starring Sir John Mills, Bette Davis and Tim Roth. A scarce film industry critique from one of Britain's best-known and well-loved film studios. Item #75570
