Bound in publisher's brown, illustrated dust-jacket designed by Fritz Wegner, priced at 10s. 6d. A lovely clean copy of the book with no spotting or inscriptions. Jacket has some chips and tears, the spine is not faded. Shows well. A classic Marlowe case, this novel was winner of the 1954 Mystery Writers of America award. A pioneer of the 'Hard-boiled' thriller, Chandler was later a champion of Ian Fleming's novels and the two authors became friends. His novel Playback was an Ian Fleming source book, being read by James Bond in the novel Goldfinger. Item #74221
