"Outside of a dog, man's best friend is a book. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."
— Groucho Marx
London: Bloomsbury, 2001, 2001, 2008. [Fantasy] FIRST EDITION COLLECTION, all first impressions. Three volumes (two paperback originals, one hardcover). Housed in a bespoke collector's clamshell box, fleece-lined within and lettered in gilt to the spine in a typeface uniform with that used for the individual books; the box is designed to complement the deluxe cloth editions of the Harry Potter series (external dimensions 24cm x 16cm). Fine/as new. A superb presentation of these three supplemental items of Hogwartiana. A pair of charitable publications issued in March 2001 (for Comic Relief), being amusing replicas of school textbooks borrowed from Hogwarts Library. The final volume, which had been mentioned in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published in hardback in 2008 (with proceeds again to a charity, Lumos), following the auction of a manuscript version which was bought by Amazon in 2007 for a world-record $3 million.
