Burgundy full calf to boards, double-ruled in gilt. Brown label with gilt titles, gilt tooling, and raised bands to spine. Marbled endpapers and edges. A pencil school prize inscription to first blank, and a moderate tobacco scent throughout, otherwise internally clean. Toned and rubbed to spine, with moderate general wear, and a water stain to lower board. Very good. Charles and Mary Lamb's famous prose re-tellings of Shakespeare, intended for the enjoyment of children. This edition features illustrations from the Boydell project, an artistic venture which capitalised on the mid-18th century Shakespeare revival in England. Item #73195
