Publisher's white and pale blue card covers, stapled; titles and illustration to front cover. Minor handling, covers remain bright, two faint tape ghosts to first and final leaves, staples not rusted. Near fine. Churchill excoriates what he considers the Labour government's mismanagement of the national finances since coming to power in 1945, and chides them for trying to monopolise the European project which he had so enthusiastically promoted himself. Significantly, Churchill uses the phrase 'rivers of blood' in this European context, coming a full 20 years before Enoch Powell's inflammatory (ab)use of Virgil's poetry: "like the Roman, I seem to see 'the River Tiber foaming with much blood.'"
