"Books are a hardbound drug with no danger of overdose. I am the happy victim of books."
— Karl Lagerfeld
London: Griffit Farran, 1892. [Strange tale] FIRST EDITION, three volumes complete. Octavo (19 x 13 x 9cm), pp.288; 302; 300. Pagination appears to be correct, with half-titles to vols. 2 and 3 (evidently not called for in first volume). Publisher's light blue cloth blocked in gilt to spine, and titled and trimmed in black to upper, black endpapers. Black titles to upper, gilt titles to spine. Publisher's catalogue to rear. Mudie's Library labels to front covers, some light institutional marks within. Contents generally clean for a lending copy, with no nasty surprises or defects. Expected wear to joints, a little foxing to first and final gatherings, bindings used but solid, some general toning/ageing, gilt dulled. A serviceable example of a particularly scarce triple-decker. An adventure novel from the esteemed mystery writer Fergus Hume. Item #66996
