INSCRIBED by the author in black marker to fly-leaf: 'For Averell and Pam | with love over | the years | Arthur.' Publisher's grey cloth with gilt titles to spine and upper, and tan endpapers. With the dust-jacket, priced at $19.95. Moderate spotting and a few marks to edges. Harriman's pencil annotations to the section on Vietnam, pp.700-734, otherwise internally clean. Jacket quite heavily worn to extremities, including some chips and tears, and sunned to spine. Good. A significant association copy, read and annotated by one of the six 'Wise Men' who were most influential in defining US Cold War foreign policy, as identified by Walter Isaacson and Evan Thomas in their 1986 book.
