With ten photographic halftone illustrations. Publisher's red cloth, gilt titles to spine. With the pictorial dust-jacket priced at 12/6 to front flap. Interior lightly toned and spotted in a few places, including both endpapers. Cloth faintly sunned to spine and extremities. Dust-jacket toned and spotted, mostly to lower. Wear to extremities. A very good copy in the rare jacket. The tale of an Austrian medical student who gets captured by the Russian army at Stalingrad and taken to a P.O.W camp. A novelised true story, recounted from the protagonist 'Pepi' to Godfrey Lias after he escaped and returned home. Narrated candidly by Lias, who himself served in both World War I and II.
