Publisher's red cloth with titles in gilt to spine and blind to upper. Heavy spotting to edges, and occasionally throughout. Light rubbing to cloth, with damp marks to top corners, and some sunning to spine. Very good. An Allan Quatermain prequel, in which the young hero emerges as one of just two survivors of the Pieter Retief massacre by Zulu king Dingane in 1838. Serialised in Cassell's Magazine from September 1911. Item #57965
