London: A. D. Innes and Co. 1893. FIRST EDITION, 2 volumes, octavo, both with the half-titles and publisher's advertisements. Bound in original blue-grey cloth lettered in dark blue to upper with gilt titles to the spine. Light coloured cloth is darkened and dusty as expected, pictorial bookplate of Richard Chamberlain to pastedowns (depicting a monastic scribe). Very good. An elusive title from the author of the immensely popular novel 'The Prisoner of Zenda', published the following year. Item #41550
