Publisher's blue paper covered boards, a little stained and rubbed; grey paper spine chipped and frayed; original paper title label chipped and rubbed; edges untrimmed. Internally sound and clean. A very good copy of a scarce first edition. Joseph Ayre (1781-1860) was born at Lynn, Norfolk. He began his medical studies in 1803 at Guy's and St. Thomas's hospitals. Ayre went to Edinburgh in 1804 where he took the doctorate in medicine in June 1807. Item #41005
