William Boyd, CBE (born 7 March 1952) is a British novelist and screenwriter, best known for his novels A Good Man in Africa and An Ice-Cream War. Boyd's official James Bond novel, Solo, was published by Jonathan Cape in 2013.
William Boyd has a catalogue of literary awards, including the 1981 Whitbread First Novel Award for A Good Man in Africa, the 1982 Somerset Maugham Award, the 1993 Sunday Express Book of the Year for The Blue Afternoon, the 2006 Costa Book Award for Restless, and the 2007 British Book Awards/Richard and Judy Best Read of the Year (shortlist) for Restless, among many others.
