[Taipei] Central Publishing Co., Late 1960s. [Thriller] Taiwanese Pirated edition, first thus, bibliographer's copy. Octavo (19 x 14cm), pp.256. Text is a taken from the 1964 UK Pan paperback edition, with a title page similar to the Cape original. Bound in green cloth hardcovers, titled in silver to the spine, with a jacket design taken from the Pan movie tie-in, with film art depicting Sean Connery as James Bond. Cheap paper toned as usual, fragile jacket is remarkably well preserved. These pirate editions from Taiwan rarely survive and are now extremely difficult to acquire. A Fleming curiosity, from the Ian Fleming Bibliographical Archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencil signature and notes within). His comprehensive guide to the works of Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Item #76071
