[Screenplay] The Exorcist. Film Script.

Burbank, CA.: Warner Bros, 1972. [Movie memorabilia] Vintage original draft script for the 1972 Warner film, adapted for the screen by Blatty, from his best-selling novel. Directed by William Friedkin, starring Ellen Burstyn and Max Von Sydow, and introducing Linda Blair as the possessed child. Octavo (29 x 22cm), pp.133, mimeograph, text printed on varying paper stocks of blue, yellow and white. Although noted as 'FINAL', and dated 'April 24, 1972', this draft of the screenplay underwent many revisions after 24th April 1972. All revised pages are printed on blue paper stock. Stud-fastened in printed ochre oversized card wrappers. Contents fine, covers with light expected wear to unsupported edges. An excellent survival. Filmed in 1973, Blatty's influential 'The Exorcist' probably still remains the most famous horror film of all time, and certainly one of the most disturbing; in its wake came a thousand Catholic Fear horror stories and movies. With revisions dated up to 18th December (1972), this differs from another copy offered recently with revisions up to 15th August. The final draft of an American classic, and extremely scarce in commerce. Item #73484
