With the blue-green paper cover of one of the original parts pasted to first blank. Contemporary black half calf, with raised bands, gilt titles to a brown label, heavy gilt decoration to spine, and marbled paper over boards. All edges and endpapers marbled. Illustrated bookplate of Ruth Elaine Marshall to front pastedown, and an associated newspaper clipping loose at rear. Moderate spotting throughout, with some minor water stains to a few plates. Moderate general wear to binding. Very good. Charles Dickens' final, unfinished novel. Completing only six of twelve planned instalments before his death, Dickens was never able to reveal the solution to the mystery. Item #72581
