Publisher's brown cloth with top edge tinted red, patterned grey endpapers, dust-wrapper designed by Hans Tisdall priced at 18s. Contents clean, top edge a little dusty/sunned, bright jacket with a tiny puncture to joint else fine and fresh. The Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author's Parisian memoirs as part of the American expatriate circle of writers in the 1920's. Features his recollections and experiences of the prominent characters and personalities including Aleister Crowley, Ezra Pound, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ford Madox Ford, Hilaire Belloc, James Joyce and Gertrude Stein. The English first edition preceeds the US printing and was read by Hemingway's Cape stablemate Ian Fleming in proof form. Bibliographer Jon Gilbert's copy, with his pencil ownership to flyleaf. His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography. Item #64822
