With the metallic-effect dust-jacket designed by Raymond Hawkey priced at 21s. Book shows light handling only. Lightweight fragile jacket shows some rubbing but much less than usually encountered. An attractive, near fine copy of a book that shows wear easily. Deighton's fourth novel, featuring the unnamed working-class protagonist, portrayed as agent 'Harry Palmer' on-screen by Michael Caine in the film of the same name (1967). The book jacket displays the notice 'to be filmed by the producers of James Bond'. Ian Fleming was a fan and had chosen Deighton's 1962 novel The Ipcress File as his 'thriller of the year'.
