003½: The Adventures of James Bond Junior.
New York: Random House, 1968. [Adventure novel] FIRST US EDITION; being the first fully illustrated edition, with drawings by Michael Jackson. Quarto (23 x 17cm), pp.236; [2], blank. Publisher's illustrated boards, no jacket was issued. Some minor rubbing, spine tips a little scuffed; very good. A clean, near fine copy. The UK edition featured a frontispiece and nine illustrations by Christopher Chamberlain; this US edition in a larger format was expanded with twenty-seven drawings by Michael Jackson. Although an officially licenced spin-off, 003½: The Adventures of James Bond Junior is considered a failed attempt at launching a youth-oriented line of fiction aimed at 8 to 14 year olds. A moderately successful TV cartoon series by the same name was, produced by EON Productions (1991), and in 2005, unrelated to 003½, Ian Fleming Publications published a successful youth-oriented line of 'Young Bond' adventures by Charlie Higson, featuring James Bond the schoolboy.
