In contemporary red full morocco by SETON AND MACKENZIE of Edinburgh, with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine. All edges gilt, and white silk-effect doublures with gilt-tooled turn-ins to pastedowns. Gently toned throughout, with a touch of spotting to first and final leaves. Moderate wear to leather, with a few points of re-colouring to head and tail caps, and upper board. Very good. Described by the author as a reflective book concerning the 'manners, morals and mythology' of the parts of India and Egypt he had come to know during his tenure as editor of the Madras Athenaeum.
