The Mysterious Mr. Quin.

London: W.Collins Sons and Co. Ltd. 1930. [Mystery novel] FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp.287; [1], imprint. Finely bound by the Baker Bindery, Anniston, Alabama in green full morocco, with gilt titles and decoration to spine, green patterned paste-paper endpapers, generous turn-ins ruled in gilt, with gilt motifs of dagger, pistol, moustache and knitting needles tooled as the four corner-pieces, all edges gilt. Original cloth spine and upper bound in at rear. Internally bright and clean. A fine copy in a handsome leather binding. The story of Mr. Harley Quinn, who sparks new life into a quiet New Year's Eve party by unmasking a murderer. The character was author Christie's own favourite creation; Harley Quinn is an enigma, who appears and disappears unexpectedly- and usually by strange tricks of the light caused by stained-glass windows or flickering firelight. His background, family and friends are all a mystery, although his almost supernatural powers of detection are, however, very real. Item #61255
