Elegantly bound in full green crushed morocco by the Baker Bindery, with raised bands to gilt-panelled spine, green patterned paste-paper endleaves, generous turn-ins with gilt 'moustache' and 'knitting' corner-piece decorations to front, and 'dagger' and 'pistol' motifs to rear, all edges gilt. Original cloth spine and upper bound in at rear. An especially clean, fine copy, inside and out. Christie's tenth crime book and her second original collection of stories which includes an appearance by Christie's husband and wife team of Tommy and Tuppence Beresford. It is a rather enjoyable work for connoisseurs of the genre, as Christie writes each story in the style of another detective, including Sherlock Holmes, Father Brown, her own Hercule Poirot, and Dr Thorndyke, amongst others.
