Presented in a custom-made fleece-lined black quarter morocco clamshell box, with gilt titles to spine and black cloth over sides. Total dimensions 32 x 22cm. Low grade paper toned throughout. Jacket rubbed with a few small chips to edges, and toned to spine. Artwork in lovely bright condition, with some wear due to its original use. Very good. First published in 1954 with a jacket illustrated by John Rose, the novel is set in post-war North Africa. This is a unique presentation of the alternative Book Club artwork by Val Biro. Item #60731
