London: Printed by G. Schulze for W.T. Gilling, 1822. [Swiss Costume] FIRST EDITION. Quarto (28 x 20cm), unpaginated, with 30 fine hand-coloured plates, including a frontispiece, after paintings by Reinhard. Each plate has a blank leaf facing it as a guard, and a leaf of accompanying text in French and English. Publisher's red horizontal-grained half morocco, recently re-cased and repaired, with gilt titles to spine, marbled paper over boards, a paper title label to upper, and dark grey endpapers. All edges untrimmed. Quite a clean copy with minimal offsetting to guards, and a few occasional marks and spots. Some noticeable paper repairs to frontispiece margins, not affecting the image, and one or two very minor paper repairs elsewhere. New head and tail bands, with repairs to head and tail caps. Quite heavy wear to boards, with half the label rubbed away. Very good. Item #60268
