Heavily toned to edges, to leaves up to p.14, and from p.397 to end. Two leaves, pp.305-308, are heavily chipped and toned to edges, with large closed tears repaired with archival tape. Previously loose, they have been carefully re-inserted. Bumping to corners, and shelf wear. Spine rubbed and frayed to head and tail. Good. A collection of short supernatural stories, translated from the German, including 'The Sandman', which was an inspiration for the ballet Coppélia. His work is known to have influenced many nineteenth-century authors, including Poe, Dickens, and Dostoyevsky, and is notable for its intersections between music, philosophy, satire, the supernatural, and science and technology.
