With numerous black and white illustrations, both plates and in-text, including a frontispiece with tissue guard. Number 50 of just 250 copies printed on large paper. Recently re-backed in blue half morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine, and the original orange cloth over boards with armorial device stamped in gilt to upper. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed; original navy endpapers. Repairs to hinges, and a few marks to endpapers. Light to moderate spotting throughout. Some minor marks to cloth, and heavy wear and bumping to corners, re-coloured. Very good. Everything you could possibly want to know about swimming, with clear and intentional emphasis on the contemporary English practice of the sport. Item #59380
