Stonewall Jackson and the American Civil War.

London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1902. [American Civil War] NEW EDITION. Complete in two volumes. Octavo (22 x 15cm), pp.xxviii; 447 [3]; pp.viii; 528 [2]. With 33 maps, including the large folding map of Virginia and Maryland at the rear of volume I, and two portraits of Stonewall Jackson, one as a frontispiece to volume I. Publisher's red cloth with gilt titles to spines. All edges untrimmed; black endpapers. Black ink ownership to both half-titles, dated 1903. Lightly toned throughout, with some occasional light spotting, and heavier toning to leaves facing endpapers. A few occasional pencil notes to margins. Light marking to cloth, and a touch of sunning to spines. Very good. An important military work first published in 1898, examining Jackson both as a man in the biographical sense, and also as a soldier and strategist in the great Civil contest between North and South.
