About 200 loose sheets 36 x 22cm, photocopied to one side only, with frequent corrections and notes in various inks and pencils by the editor, printer and author. INSCRIBED by the author in blue ink to the editor, Bill Targ, on the title page: 'For Bill | Finally we made it | affectionately | Mario.' Containing three different versions of the title page, as well as the printer's job-sheet, and the final press-release advertising the publication of the novel. Presented in a fleece-lined black quarter morocco clamshell box, with raised bands, gilt titles to spine, and black cloth over sides. Heavy handling and wear / chipping to title pages and final two or three leaves, as might be expected. Fairly crisp through the main body of the text. Very good. Puzo's first novel following his best-selling 'The Godfather' (1969), focusing on the self-destructive world of Art, writing, and show-business in America. Item #59339
