With frequent in-text illustrations by various artists, including some by Frederic Dorr Steele to the Doyle story. Publisher's dichromatic paper covers, featuring a Holmes illustration, also by Steele. Sewn, and priced at 10c. A nice clean copy with very light handling and toning. Some wear to spine; front cover seemingly re-attached. Very good. The first US appearance of a Sherlock Holmes short story first seen in The Strand Magazine in September 1904, and later collected in 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes' (1905). Item #58972
