With 21 etchings by Dagley, including a frontispiece, and an appendix at rear giving details of each gem. Contemporary tan half calf by BIRDSALL & SON of Northampton, with gilt titles to a navy label, three raised bands, and further gilt decoration to spine. Tan cloth over boards; top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Heavy spotting to endpapers and blanks. Black ink ownership to front pastedown. Light toning and spotting throughout. Moderate rubbing and bumping to binding. Very good. A collection of etched illustrations of various Ancient Greek and Roman cameos (and modern copies), with an accompanying verse encomium for each one by the Rev. Croly. Item #58918
