Complete in nine monthly parts, running September through May. The first issue features a colour portrait of Holmes and a full page colour frontispiece of the great detective illustrated by Frank Wiles. The serial parts of this novel are illustrated throughout- the first edition in book form features only a solitary frontispiece illustration. Bound in publisher's light blue cloth. Some expected wear and handling to heavy books, second volume blank endleaves neatly replaced, some discolour and dulling to cloth and gilt. Overall very good. A scarce set. Item #58917
