"Books serve to show a man that those original thoughts of his aren't very new after all."
— Abraham Lincoln

Genève: Éditions des Trois Collines, 1944. [Surrealist Drama] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (19 x 12cm), pp.96 [4]. One of just 100 copies thus, out of a total edition of 125 copies. With a black and white portrait of the author by Hermann Paul as a frontispiece. All text in French. Publisher's plain soft covers, titled in red and yellow. All edges untrimmed. Clean internally. Covers heavily browned, especially spine, with rubbing to edges and joints, and some creasing to spine. Very good. One of the bizarre sequels to Jarry's hugely controversial puppet-theatre phenomenon 'Ubu Roi' (1896), in which the now-exiled King Turd fathers an Archaeopteryx. Item #58555
