Flora's Feast: A Masque of Flowers.
London: Cassell & Company, 1889. [Children's Illustrated] FIRST EDITION. Large octavo (26 x 19cm), pp.40 [10]. With fine colour illustrations by the author to every page. Publisher's catalogue dated August 1889. Publisher's illustrated paper-covered boards with green cloth to spine and endpapers patterned in orange. Light repair to split upper hinge. Doubled leaves unopened, as intended, with a strong tobacco scent. Quite heavy wear and toning to binding, with a repair to split upper hinge, bumping to corners, and fraying to head and tail of spine. Very good. A prelude to the 'Flower Fairies' concept, taken to its logical conclusion by Cicely Mary Barker in the 1920's. Item #57939
