Contemporary light green half calf, with raised bands, gilt titles to orange label and further gilt tooling to spine, and marbled paper over boards. All edges and endpapers marbled. A few spots to blanks, but exceptionally crisp and clean otherwise, with a tobacco scent. Light rubbing to binding, with some bumping to top corners. Spine heavily toned. Very good. Evans' first novel, published under her pseudonym George Eliot in 1859. Item #57788
