Publisher's cream cloth with gilt titles to spine and black decoration to spine and upper. Black ink ownership to fly-leaf. Extremely browned and brittle throughout. Title page nearly detached, with chipping to margins. Light rubbing and some grubbiness to cloth. Spine a little toned, and some patches of lost pigment to upper. Very good. A Study In Scarlet (1887) was the first Sherlock Holmes novel, featuring the debut case for the great amateur detective Sherlock Holmes and his new-found colleague, the narrator Dr. John Watson.
