Some light spotting/toning, jackets clean and fresh, all prices present. A very bright set. 'Tide' is the second state of the jacket. Smartly housed in a bespoke fleece-lined black cloth slip-case with ribbon pull. Containing many of Churchill's most famous speeches, including 'The Sinews of Peace', given at Westminster College, Fulton Missouri on 5th March 1946. In this speech Churchill coined the term 'Iron Curtain', and thereby defined the ensuing Cold War period. Volume two contains the Leader of the Opposition's speeches from 1947-48, including the all-important "Europe Unite" speech at the Hague; 'In the Balance' features the sizzling Opposition leader speaking on Korea, NATO and Socialism on the eve of returning to power; 'Stemming the Tide' follows a resurgent Churchill leading the Conservatives to victory; and 'The Unwritten Alliance' collects his speeches from 1953 through 1959, and is Churchill's last book published in his lifetime.
