Stuart. The Life and Art of Stuart Sutcliffe

Guildford, England: Genesis Publications, 1996. SIGNED LIMITED EDITION, one of 2000 copies, this being copy number 1907. Quarto (28 x 25cm), pp.232. Illustrated throughout with photographs. Elegantly bound in black leather over screen-printed cloth sides. The box set contains two superbly printed books; the main, definitive illustrated biography plus facsimile reproduction of one of an artist sketchbook, bound in paper-covered boards to closely match Stuart's original. Presented in a laminated slipcase featuring two of Astrid Kirchherr's classic images of Stuart and The Beatles. As new copy, entirely unopened in shrinkwrap, in the original fitted carton. Stuart is a deeply personal tribute to a talented artist who was a close friend of John Lennon and an original member of The Beatles. The two volumes combine to provide both the first comprehensive catalogue of Stuart Sutcliffe's art, and an unrivalled view into the formative years of the band later to conquer the world as The Beatles. It was created by some of those that were closest to Stuart: his sister Pauline Sutcliffe, his fiancée Astrid Kirchherr, and his friends Cynthia Lennon, Jürgen Vollmer and Paul McCartney. The book is signed by the two authors and the photographer Astrid Kirchherr, who provides an introduction to the work. Item #57190
