Small quarto portfolio containing 40 loose black and white photographs backed onto card, with descriptions tipped onto verso. Also with a loose introductory leaf, and publishing information to the inside of the portfolio. Publisher's blue cloth chemise portfolio, with plain card flaps and gilt titles to front cover. Recent repairs to worn flap joints, ribbon-tie broken. Sunning to portfolio edges. Browning and spotting throughout. Very good. A collection of photographs produced to celebrate the first anniversary of the beginning of Dai Toa Senso, or the Greater East Asia War, in December 1941. The collection is entirely military in character, showing successful Japanese operations on land, at sea, and in the air. Including images of Admiral Yamamoto, the attack on Pearl Harbour, the occupation of Hong Kong and Singapore, Japanese paratroopers, a flame-thrower in action, the surrender of Allied forces and prisoners of war, naval engagements with British and American war ships, and the bombing of Rangoon.
