In this, the fourth of Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" sequence, Martin was so overwhelmed by the quantity of material to be included that he was forced to split the narrative into two books - this title, and 'A Dance with Dragons'. In accordance with Martin's wishes, the division was made in terms of character's points of view, rather than by chronology. This volume features some of the series' most popular characters, including Cersei and Jaime Lannister, Brienne of Tarth, and Arya Stark among many others. In terms of the successful HBO television adaptation, this novel was the primary source material for season five, though elements were also included in seasons four and six. The UK first edition was issued before the US by approximately a month, making it the true first. Item #56548
