Item #56352 Annals of the Five Senses. C. M. GRIEVE, Hugh real name of MACDIARMID.

Annals of the Five Senses.

Montrose: Privately published by the author, 1923. [Stream-of-Consciousness] FIRST EDITION, a presentation copy. Octavo (20 x 14cm), pp.[10] 195 [3]. With a black and white photographic image of the author clipped from a newspaper tipped onto flyleaf, with a presentation note (possibly secretarial) in pencil stating 'from the author.' Publisher's light brown cloth with gilt titles to spine, dark brown titles to upper, top edge brown, and others untrimmed. Very light browning to endpapers, and some minor handling to cloth. Near fine. The author's first book—a curious mixture of prose and poetry based on a series of quotations which had particularly struck him over several years, and described by Grieve himself in the introduction as 'strange fish.'. Item #56352

From the library of pioneering Sports Scientist Prof. N.C. Craig Sharp (1933-2018), also a Burns scholar and Poetry Critic for Radio Clyde.
