A generous collection of candid and inspiring photographs are assembled in this account of a pioneering Arctic expedition in two flying boats. Amundsen was one of the most notable figures in the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, alongside travellers such as Douglas Mawson, Robert Falcon Scott, and Ernest Shackleton. In June 1928, while taking part in a rescue mission for the Airship Italia, the plane he was in disappeared – this was to be the sudden end to his intrepid life. Item #56172
