Handsomely bound in deep red full oasis morocco, with twin black title labels to spine, ruled in gilt, black endpapers, top edge gilt. Some acceptable toning/marking within, exterior unmarked. A very good copy in an attractive recent leather binding. The second (first published) edition, following the 1889 edition printed by Edmund Evans which was rejected by the author as the pictures were too bright and gaudy. The new impression consisted of 10,000 copies on white, rather than 'toned' paper, which greatly improved colour reproduction. Item #55831
