Lolita. Vladimir NABOKOV, 1899–1977.

London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1959. [Modern Literature] FIRST UK EDITION. Octavo (20 x 14cm), pp.319; [1]. Publisher's black cloth with silver titles to spine, top edge tinted red, dust-jacket designed by Eric Ayers with printed price of 21s net. Light spotting to edges and endpapers, otherwise internally fine, top edge stain a little faded and spotted. Wrapper shows well with some light handling, some red offsetting from the top stain to the top margin of the inner flaps. An attractive copy. Very good. This infamous tale of sexual obsession was the basis for Stanley Kubrick's 1962 movie starring James Mason and Shelley Winters, for which author Vladimir Nabokov received an Oscar nomination (Best Screenplay).
