London: Herbert Jenkins, 1926. [Crime Thriller] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.312; . Publisher's orange cloth with black titles and illustration to spine and upper board. With the dust-jacket illustrated by Philip Simmonds, correctly priced at 7/6. Remarkably fine leaves and cloth, with just a little light browning to edges and endpapers. Jacket bright and clean, but showing a number of chips and closed tears to edges. A large nexus of creases and closed tears to head of spine and front cover, with old tape repairs to verso. Rarely found with the original jacket. Near fine. Fletcher was one of the most prolific detective fiction writers of all time, writing over 200 books in total, with more than 100 of those being of the detective genre, which he only took up in his 50's. Inspector Wedgwood investigates the murder of a genealogist, and the secrets he uncovered at Mortover Grange. Item #54259
