Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. J. K. ROWLING, born 1965.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

London: Bloomsbury, 1999. [Fantasy] FIRST EDITION, FIRST IMPRESSION, second state (see below). Octavo (21 x 14cm), pp.317; [5]. The third novel in the Hogwarts series. Publisher's pictorial hardcovers in dust-jacket illustrated by Cliff Wright, priced at £10.99. Signed twice by the artist, to both his front panel and rear panel illustrations. A lovely copy, shows extremely well. Fine. The first issue states 'Copyright Joanne Rowling' on the copyright page, whereas the second and third state are amended to 'J.K Rowling'. The first state also has a misaligned text block 'burnt (drop) so much' p.7, which is corrected in the subsequent states. Second and third states are most easily distinguished by adverts included at the rear of the third state, and the omission of the printers line on the copyright page in the third state. All three issues feature full strike-line numbers and are therefore 'states' or 'issues' rather than separate impressions. Item #54016
