London: Cobden-Sanderson, 1934. [Literature] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (20 x 14cm), pp.248. Publisher's red cloth, titles in gilt to spine, dust-jacket designed by John Nash. Generally internally clean and bright apart from a small stain affecting four leaves towards the rear of the book. Edges toned, a little dusty to top edge. Cloth lightly handled, slightly bumped to head of spine, some marks to spine. Price clipped wrapper shows well, a little toned to spine, some loss to the foot of same with tape burn to the reverse. Very good. A novel from the rural journalist and author who was also the first 'setter' of the Times crossword and is credited with help develop its cryptic style. Item #54002
