London: Richard Bentley, 1841. [Letters] FIRST EDITION. Two volumes. Octavo (24 x 16cm), pp.[4] 37-456; pp.[4]; 367; [1]. With a frontispiece engraving of the author to volume I. Publisher's brown cloth with gilt titles to spines and blind decoration to boards. All edges untrimmed, later endpapers. Some spotting but generally clean. cloth a little worn to joints, chipping to spine ends, corners bumped. Very good. Following the first publication of Pepys's Diaries in 1825, Smith went on to publish this interesting collection of letters. Item #53992
