Handsomely bound in half red morocco, gilt, with matching red cloth sides, top edges gilt, gilt-patterned endpapers. Some foxing within, lightly handled to exterior; a very good set in a quality 'West End' style leather binding. Dumas' classic series of true crimes, 'scrupulously accurate with regard to facts', including, among others, the story of a disturbed French woman, 'Marquise de Brinvilliers', sentenced to death for the poisoning murder of her father, brother and two sisters; all whose property she wanted to inherit.
