With 250 tinted lithographs (all with paper guards) including frontispiece portrait of David Roberts, 6 title pages and 2 maps. Contemporary red half morocco, gilt, with matching cloth sides, coated yellow endpapers, all edges gilt. Some trivial foxing but essentially fine within. Bindings nicely aged with some gentle rubbing and a few minor marks. 'Robert's Holy Land was one of the most important and elaborate ventures of nineteenth-century publishing, and it was the apotheosis of the tinted lithograph' (Abbey, Travel). Item #53386
