London: Victor Gollancz, 1941. [Crime Fiction] EARLY EDITION, the fourth impression. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.320. Publisher's blue cloth with darker blue titles to spine. With the distinctive yellow, black and purple dust-jacket. Lightly browned war-time standard paper, toned to edges. Yellow of dust-jacket very faded, but the purple and black still strong and bright. Some small chips and closed tears to jacket edges, rubbed to folds, splits along the rear spine fold leading to a neat horizontal closed tear across the width of the spine. Very good. Eleven short stories featuring the eponymous mystery writer-cum-detective. Item #52034
